Wolves in Western Oregon @ Sandy Library Community Room.
Jun 27 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Image result for gray wolves in oregon stephensonWhat we currently know about gray wolves in central and western Oregon; the status of OR-7 (the wolf called Journey) and the Rogue Pack in SW Oregon, what we know about new groups of wolves in the Oregon Cascades and elsewhere, some fascinating information on the long-distance movements of lone dispersing wolves, and what we are doing to deter wolves from attacking livestock. John Stephenson, lead Wolf Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Oregon, has served in that role since 2004. In the early years, when wolves were first entering Oregon from Idaho, he worked primarily in eastern Oregon, but now is focused in central and western Oregon. His duties include monitoring wolf activity, capture and collaring work, and working with livestock producers to implement deterrence measures to minimize livestock attacks. This program is part of our Mind~Body~Spirit; creating a vibrant adult life series, and is supported by the Friends of the Sandy Library.
