Take a virtual historical trip on the Barlow Road to Philip Foster Farm! Learn about Philip Foster Farm, Oregon’s first tourist destination, and the historical Barlow Road. We will explore the settlement of Eagle Creek and the history of the surrounding communities during 1845-1900. Find out about current programs at the Philip Foster Farm. Presenter Joanne Broadhurst, a native born Oregonian whose family dates to 1843 and 1853, is a great great granddaughter of Philip and Mary Foster and a great granddaughter of Josiah and Lucy Foster Burnett. Family history was a common conversation during her early years, consequently she obtained a life-long interest in Oregon history. Ms. Broadhurst attended Eagle Creek grade school, Estacada High School, Oregon State College, and attained her CPA degree through Portland State University. Ms. Broadhurst is retired but still involved in the Philip Foster Farm. This program is part of the Sandy Library’s Mind~Body~Spirit; creating a vibrant adult life series. It is supported by the Friends of the Sandy Library.
