BECOME A SHIBA COUNSELOR! (SHIBA = Senior Health Insurance Benefit Assistance)
Certified and trained volunteer counselors provide unbiased information to Medicare beneficiaries on enrollment and billing, supplemental health insurance, prescription assistance and resources for reduced cost medications. Volunteers and staff assist individuals with Medicare issues including one-on-one consultations. Community members receive services at fairs and events with Medicare related education. The program also helps prevent Medicare Fraud, Abuse, Waste, and Errors.
SHIBA Counselors help residents in a variety of ways:
* One-on-One Assistance
* Participate in group presentations
* Staff Informational table
* Provide administrative assistance in the program office
* Participate in planning committees
No minimum time commitment
No required schedule
